2 Hour Workshop Package (February 15 and 16, 5-7pm)
The workshop is for all levels of surfers, it’s for the Moms the dads and the kids. The workshop covers the fundamentals of surfing and breaks down the different types of turns into different phases and explains in detail what the board and the body will be doing at any one moment in the turn. The workshop goes into depth the different techniques to generate speed and how to use the wave to maximise your potential to build speed. We will also briefly cover the different areas to focus on when surfing competitively and we also discuss the topic of localism and hierarchy in the line up.
The workshop will cover the four basic turns in surfing and breaks it down into three phases, it explains in detail what the board and body will be doing at any one stage during the three phases of the turn.
4 Hour Practical Package (February 15 and 16, max 8 people)
A four hour practical 2.5 hours surf and 1.5 hours video analysis, here Lu videos the surfers while surfing and then they come in every 30 - 40min to get feed back on the beach from him and then after the surf session they break for video analysis.
Who is Llewellyn Whittaker:
Llewellyn Whittaker is one of the toughest competitors in the world of surfing, has been surfing for 30 years and competed for 28. He has a world renown backhand attack that has been seen on almost every continent in the world while he was competing on the WQS. While on the WQS he constantly made the top 100 he also won the Quiksilver Good Wave specialty event in 2003 as well as the UK triple crown in 2007.
Since moving back into South Africa in 2008, he started getting more involved with
coaching but still loves to compete. Llewelyn has 3 SA National titles behind his name as well as two Victoria Bay Quad titles, he also Captained the SA team at the World Championships in Panama. His coaching record is also just as impressive having coached the SA junior team 3 times and in 2010 with the team won Silver at the World Junior surfing championships in Peru.
Recently he has been presenting surfing workshops both nationally and internationally and has been hosted in Namibia as well as France. Llewellyn is also now the proud owner of his new athlete and motivational clothing brand, Focus Trust Believe and it’s with these 3 strong words that he has been able to achieve all of this. Llewellyn always sees the glass has half full and is very motivated by passion.
