📌 ITINERARY (SUGGESTION)
Day 1: Arrival & Long-Distance Transfer
Upon your arrival at Colombo airport, you will be met by a chauffeur for a 7 to 9-hour transfer to Arugam Bay. This is the standard way to reach the east coast from the capital.
Day 2: Morning Surf at Main Point or Baby Point
Start your first morning in the water. Main Point is the area's most powerful break, offering long 200–500 meter rides over a mixed sand and reef bottom, suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers. Alternatively, Baby Point is a more tranquil, sand-bottomed section of the same wave with a gentle takeoff that is perfect for beginners.
Day 3: Exploring Northern Points (Whisky or Pottuvil)
Head 10 minutes north to Whisky Point, which offers a mellow to moderate takeoff into a long wave. If you prefer fewer crowds, we will try Pottuvil Point nearby, which is a similar intermediate spot that works best when a big swell hits. Explore crocodile rock, Raddella rock & Buffalo bathing point a short ride away from Arugam bay.
Day 4: Surf & Cultural Exploration
Take a short break from the surf for a half day trip. Hike towards Kudumbigala monastery for sunrise. a short 45min climb, surrounded by lush nature and Sri Lankan wildlife. Surf one of the many breaks in the afternoon, based on weather conditions.
Day 5: Surf & Wildlife Safari at Kumana National Park
Experience the wild side of the island with a safari at Kumana National Park. Located about 23km south of Arugam Bay, this area is a prime destination for exploring Sri Lanka's natural reserves. Spot elephants, peacocks, crocodiles and much more !
Day 6: Peanut Farm Surf & Elephant Rock Sunset
Travel 20 minutes south to Peanut Farm, which features two distinct peaks—one mellow for beginners and one more powerful for advanced surfers. Later, climb to the top of Elephant Rock to catch the sunset, which is widely considered the best viewpoint in the area.
Day 7: Quiet Surf at Lighthouse Beach
For your final full day, travel 30–45 minutes north of town to Lighthouse Beach. This "best kept secret" features three right-hand point breaks and offers an almost private surfing experience with very few people on the peak.
Day 8: Mid-day Departure
Enjoy one last morning in the bay before a mid-day departure from Arugam Bay. This timing ensures you arrive at the airport approximately three hours before an early morning flight the next day.
