Sunset Beach SHOOT OUT 2025
SHOOT OUT RULES & REGULATIONS
The Sunset Beach Shoot Out is the first of its kind surf competition that will be held at our local surf break. Unlike the Sunset Open, this is an unsanctioned event meaning we are operating as if this is just a standard surf day and gathering everyone to watch just for a good time.
No flags or collaterals, just the community cheering along their favorite surfers and the high risk maneuvers they are challenged to do in rough situations that the beach break brings.
There will be two (2) categories and one (1) winner for each:
- Best Close Out Pull In or Best Barrel
- Best Aerial
Each category will have two (2) heats. Each heat will have four (4) surfers and 20 minutes to strut their strut (TOTAL 4 Heats | 1hr30mins).
A registrant is only allowed to join one (1) category, this is to pave way for maximum of 16 individual surfers to compete. It is an open category so male or female will be put together. Each surfer will have a different color rashvest for our judges to be able to distinguish you in the water. Each competitor can take a maximum of 5 waves, and their best wave will be the one that is counted for the rankings.
Being that this is an outlaw type of event, the area of competition (Sunset Beach surf zone) will be the play ground and will be totally open with other surfers in the line up, again, just as if you’re surfing on a usual surf day.

FOR SPECTATORS
Those interested to watch are welcome to join us at the beach and chill, if we can ask the others surfers to clear the spot by 4:00pm this will help us have a bit more space for the competitors to operate on, the swim zone will be open for surf, so if you’re a good member of the community we ask for just this time to have the surf zone be a little bit more free.
